The Allure of the Automobile - Portland Art Museum - June 11 - September 11, 2011

The Allure of the Automobile is the first exhibition to consider the stylistic development of cars in the context of prominent design movements such as Art Moderne and Postwar Modernity. Visitors will learn about the contrasts between European and American design, the influence of decorative arts, and the significant changes in automotive styling and engineering before and after World War II.

The exhibition will be accompanied by an array of programs and opportunities to learn more about these remarkable automobiles, the technology behind them, and their historical and cultural context. This includes exhibits each Saturday featuring a different make of car in the Park Blocks outside the museum. SEE MORE

This show features all new music, choreography and routines with a major emphasis on the historical background and foundation of the Lipizzaner breed, from its original breeding and use as a horse of war to a horse of nobility.  123rd Annual Spring Rose Show - Lloyd Center Ice Rink - Thurs.-Fri. June 9-10  $3

Each year the Lloyd Center Ice Rink is transformed into a delightful rose garden by the Portland Rose Society, show casing the largest and longest-running rose show in the nation. A great chance to check out what kind of roses you may want to grow in your own yard and garden. This yearly show emanate from more than 4,000 blooms.
